HOW TO GET TO LAKE COMO
PRIVATE TRANSFER
UBER/TAXI
Uber is not available in the Como area. The fastest way to get from Malpensa Airport to Lake Como is taking a taxi or a private transfer. This will provide you with a direct and convenient transfer to your destination without having to worry about public transport schedules and connections.

August is very busy, so make sure to book your transfers in advance!

City Airport Taxis / Private Transfer
Transfer from Milan to Lake Como is approx. $170 Euros. Price may vary depending on drop off/pick up location.

TRAIN
Alternatively, you can take the train from Milan to Como (~40 minutes). From Milan Centrale Station, take the Trenord Train to Como S. Giovanni Station. Then transfer to a bus or ferry to your final destination in Lake Como. This option is more time-consuming but is significantly cheaper. Rome2Rio is a great tool to find your transportation route using train, bus, ferry, etc.

If you are going to Como from Malpensa Airport, you can take the Malpensa Express from Malpensa Airport (both terminals) to Milan Centrale Station. Then, follow steps above.

This option is only recommended for savvy travelers and is not recommended for those with small children or with a lot of luggage.
RENTAL CAR
Another option is to rent a car at Malpensa Airport and drive to Lake Como. This would give you more flexibility to explore the area on your own schedule, but you would need to be comfortable driving in Italy and navigating unfamiliar (steep, small, and curvy) roads.

Please note that you do not need a car in Lake Como. Public and private transportation are efficient. Also, parking around the lake is in short supply. Thus, make sure to contact your accommodations for parking rates.

Generally, we don't really recommend this option as highly unless you are planning to venture far from the main towns that can be accessed by ferry.
Accommodations
To ensure your convenience and smooth travel to the venue, we kindly recommend staying in the picturesque towns of Varenna or Bellagio. We've thoughtfully curated a selection of hotels and Airbnbs near the ferry terminals in both these towns.

As this is not a completely exhaustive list, while searching, please prioritize accommodations within a 15-minute walk of the ferries, as this is the primary mode of transport across Lake Como. For further information on getting around Lake Como, refer to our dedicated 'How to Get Around Lake Como' section at the bottom of this page.
